This object is a tool for measuring time. The coil measures 1,095 inches with each inch of the beeswax candle burning for roughly 20 minutes; Exactly enough to measure 1 hour a day for 365 days. Without markings to establish units of measurement, the only way to tell the passing of time is through the slow disappearance of the coil. This is a tool for reflection and translation. These short, daily increments of time over the course of one year are moments of self-reflection. The lack of unit markings forces us to translate the passing of time into felt emotion. Eventually, the coil will shorten until only the bones remain, leaving us to begin again or reflect on the empty vessel.
